Rotterdam Popular Music Studies (RPMS)

RPMS logo

Rotterdam Popular Music Studies (RPMS) is a research centre within the Erasmus School of History, Culture and Communication at ´óÏó´«Ã½. Our members research popular music – ranging from schlager to metal music - from the perspective of the social sciences and humanities. Our work centers around understanding the production, distribution and reception of live and recorded popular music, and how it related to important societal challenges as inclusion, human well-being, and resilience. We believe state-of-the art research needs societal grounding. Therefore we work in close collaboration with a broad palette of international and local partners in academia and the music sector. Below, you can meet our team, find our publications, view past media appearances and Music Talks, learn about the exciting Minor MU$IC, and discover more about us.
